Summit Book Submission Guidelines

Please follow these guidelines for your submissions. Doing so will greatly increase the chances of your submission being accepted.

=== 1. Theme and Deadline ===

The theme for 2010 is "What is LARPing in North America?" All articles should tie into this theme in some way, shape or form.

The deadline for submissions is April 20, 2010.

=== 2. Language and Origin ===

All articles are to be written in English. American English is preferred, but British English will be accepted too. Translation services will not be available for those who submit articles in any other language.

As this publication is an exploration of LARP within the North American region of the world preference will be given to articles that originate from said area.

=== 3. Length and Structure ===

Please include a suggested title and subtitle with your article. It's also suggested that you include a few sentences overview at the start.

Please use subtitles within your article copy as it makes it easier to read. Depending on your article, it may be a good idea to end it with a summary or conclusion section.

There is no minimum or maximum word length, however articles less than 1500 words long are rather short while those over 10,000 words tend to be rather long.

=== 4. Formatting ===

Please send all submissions in Rich Text Format (.rtf).

Use simple HTML code tags (ex. <i>italic</i>, <b>bold</b>, <u>underline</u>. <editor: this is the caption for picture 3>Author eating candy</editor>.) to signify formattings so that as the book is put together such formatting isn't lost as the article moves between different programs.

Please separate paragraphs with an empty line (two line breaks) and do not manually indent the paragraphs.

If you use footnotes, note them in the text like this <1>. List your footnotes at the end of your article like this: <1> As noted by the LARP Alliance.

=== 5. Terminology ===

Please be aware of the words you use and how you describe things. When in doubt please clarify your use of a term or word.

Pay extra attention to the distinction between role-playing, live-action role-playing, live-action battle gaming and tabletop role-playing. If you mean only theater or role-playing in general for examples, say so.

=== 6. References ===

At the end of your article please include a bibliography of the works cited. Please use the MLA (MLA Handbook, 7th edition) citation format (http://www.mla.org/) for references. If you need help making sure your citations are in the right format please utilize one of these generator links:

When referring to a game, use the original, whole name of the game. Also, include the year(s) and name(s) of the head organizer(s).

=== 7. Author Descriptions ===

Please include a brief author biography (maximum of 100 words) of yourself with your submission. Biographies which are longer will be cut down to size.

=== 8. Images ===

If you include images with your article, please do not embed them in the .rtf file. Please send them in high-quality tiff or jpeg format. Please give every picture you send in a caption and note who took the photo for proper attribution.

=== 9. Compensation and Legal ===

If you do not agree with any of the following, please do not send a submission. By sending a submission, you are agreeing to the following terms:
